McKee Dental "Smilers" Walk For Cancer

The Doctors and staff at McKee Dental recently walked in the Susan G. Komen as the 'McKee Dental Smilers'. Our team raised over $600.00 for breast cancer research and we are so proud of our staff who gave both time and money to the cause.

Our group met early at the new Lynx station at 485 and took the new light rail to uptown. It was exciting for the kids to take a train - most had never even seen a train before! We arrived uptown and enjoyed all of the great events and entertainment. There are no words to describe what it's like to be a part of such a sea of people united for a single cause. Sponsors gave their all to make the fundraiser a great success.

The walk followed a route through uptown Charlotte. It was a perfect North Carolina fall day and it was great to meet so many people who all came out to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. By the afternoon, following the conclusion of the 5k, everyone was tired but satisfied that through a small sacrifice, we hopefully had helped to do some good. It was amazing to see all of the ladies in pink (cancer survivors are awarded pink shirts for the race and ceremonies) and it is a testament as to how far medicine has come that there are so many women that have fought cancer and won. Early detection and improved treatment mean that more and more pink shorts will be worn at every event. We hope that one day, with a cure at hand, no woman will ever have the need to wear a pink shirt again...

We're ready to start walkin'

The"Eat Mor Chikn" cow joined us for the start of the kids race...
