Babies, Babies and More Babies!

Congratulations to Erica and Todd on the birth of their son Brody (center) and to Melissa and Diana on the birth of their twin girls Lauren and Lindsey! Brody was born about 5 weeks before the girls and it looks like they'll be friends for a long time. There must be something in the water at our office because two more of our lovely staff are expecting babies in the near future...

Latest Sirona Digital Panoramic Now at McKee Dental

Work started from the moment our office was closed for the Christmas holiday as workers quickly completed construction to accomodate our upgraded digital panoramic and cephalometric radiography system. After careful consideration and a lot of research, our doctors decided to purchase the new Sirona XG 5 for the benefit of our patients.

With offices in Charlotte, the roots of Sirona’s competence in the field of radiography go all the way back to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and his pioneering work in the early 1900s. Many innovative products made Siemens Dental the technological leader in the dental sector. And, since the transition to Sirona in 1997, they have consistently expanded on their leadership in the market.

The ORTHOPHOS XG 5 is designed as part of the neXt Generation family of Sirona X-ray products for dentists who would like to use state-of-the-art technologies to meet their most important requirements: Accurate and reliable X-ray images with simple operation. Not only does the programmable robotic movement of the sensor arm capture crystal clear images, it does so with as little radiation exposure as possible. So much less, in fact, that an entire arch of teeth can be seen with the same amount of radiation as one tiny film.

In addition to regular panoramic programs, the XG 5 can take TMJ views, sinus views, constant magnification views for prosthetics and implants, cross sectional views and split arch views for great flexibility. The machine also has pediatric programs which limit the field of radiation for our smaller patients.

McKee Dental is also the first dental office in Charlotte to get the panoramic bitewing program! This software upgrade allows our panoramic to take conventional bitewing x-rays. These views allow us to see cavities in high detail without the use of intraoral sensors. This is great for kids who can't tolerate regular x-rays and is extremely low-dose to boot! This unprecedented development sets a new standard for extraoral x-rays.

The cephalometric component is crystal clear with its own dedicated sensor and can be used for orthodontics as well as a diagnostic tool for implants.

We are proud and excited to make the investment in this latest component in digital diagnostic capability for our patients.

McKee Dental Christmas Party 2008

The docs and the team at McKee Dental had a nice dinner at Carpe Diem for our 2008 Christmas Party. You can learn about this wonderful restaurant here. Secret Santas were hard at work while we relaxed and celebrated the end of a great year. A sincere thanks to all of our staff - we couldn't do it without you.

McKee Dental "Smilers" Walk For Cancer

The Doctors and staff at McKee Dental recently walked in the Susan G. Komen as the 'McKee Dental Smilers'. Our team raised over $600.00 for breast cancer research and we are so proud of our staff who gave both time and money to the cause.

Our group met early at the new Lynx station at 485 and took the new light rail to uptown. It was exciting for the kids to take a train - most had never even seen a train before! We arrived uptown and enjoyed all of the great events and entertainment. There are no words to describe what it's like to be a part of such a sea of people united for a single cause. Sponsors gave their all to make the fundraiser a great success.

The walk followed a route through uptown Charlotte. It was a perfect North Carolina fall day and it was great to meet so many people who all came out to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. By the afternoon, following the conclusion of the 5k, everyone was tired but satisfied that through a small sacrifice, we hopefully had helped to do some good. It was amazing to see all of the ladies in pink (cancer survivors are awarded pink shirts for the race and ceremonies) and it is a testament as to how far medicine has come that there are so many women that have fought cancer and won. Early detection and improved treatment mean that more and more pink shorts will be worn at every event. We hope that one day, with a cure at hand, no woman will ever have the need to wear a pink shirt again...

We're ready to start walkin'

The"Eat Mor Chikn" cow joined us for the start of the kids race...

Lookout Grownups!

Sir Purr and the Lady Cats managed to hang around long enough to get a photo opportunity with Dr. Woodman and Jonathan. Go Panthers!

The Big finish...

McKee Dental Open House

About 180 patients and colleagues joined us for our open-house barbeque. Food was lovingly prepared by Ranucci's Big Butt Barbeque. The chef arrived mid-morning to set up the industrial-sized smoker to make his award winning pork, chicken, sides and all the trimmings. It's all in the sauce, righht? See them here at their website here. For a New York boy, he SURE can cook! Thanks for the great meal Alex.
